Hereford City,
With its awe inspiring cathedral, is a classic country market and shopping centre on the banks of the world famous River Wye with a mix of traditional and modern shops, pubs and restaurants.  Hereford Cathedral is famous for being the home of the unique Mappa Mundi, a Medieval treasure from the 13th Century.  Herefordshire has a wealth of beautiful churches, great houses with beautiful gardens, castles and sites of historical interest.

Down almost every country lane is a traditional Herefordshire village, with a wealth of pretty black and white cottages, most with a village pub offering traditional ales and ciders with fine wines and spirits and quality locally produced food. 
As well of Hereford City, visit the other bustling towns of Ledbury, Leominster, Bromyard, Ross-on-Wye and Hay-on-Wye, all full of quaint buildings and busy small traders selling gifts and fine local produce. 

All the classic country pursuits and many other activities are available in the county; i.e., shooting, fishing, hang gliding, horse-riding, walking, canoeing, bird watching.
Maybe you would enjoy watching a ploughing contest or hedge laying match, visiting a steam rally, tug of war or a sheep shearing contest.  These are just a few of the country pursuits on offer, but if you are intent on just enjoying a lazy day you can be sure of relaxing in one of Britain's Premier counties.
